1950 Hollywood Stars Program and Original Photo Used for Inside Page featuring George Burns (Danny Goodman Collection)
In 1950 the Hollywood Stars were affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers. This particular program showcases the PCL team against the Sacramento Solons (unscored). The program itself is in weak condition with storage wear, some detachment from binding etc. However looking past the flaws and into the value is the original photo from the interior - with all press markings/instructions on the reverse. Oh yeah, and it features a young comedy superstar George Burns who replaces his trademark stogie in his mouth every once in awhile for the team's hot dogs. A young concession guy is also featured in the photo.
Danny Goodman was a pioneer in the truest sense. The man who spearheaded the promotion of the Dodgers when they moved out west, Goodman is credited with inventing the sports souvenir marketing industry.
