C. 1981-85 Philadelphia Phillies Steve Carlton Pre-Game-Worn, Signed Warm-Up Jersey
And, who says pitchers can't hit? Steve Carlton had a better lifetime batting average than Hall of Fame announcer Bob Uecker. He was also a four-time Cy Young winner, ten-time All-Star and World Champion where he anchored the Phils staff for 14 seasons ('72-86), winning 20 games five times. Carlton was a focused competitor who left it all on the field every outing.
This Phillies warm up was worn in the 1981-85 era by the HOFer. It’s a stellar representation of the pre-game preparation in both hitting and pitching the lefty had before a “W” was etched into Phillies history. It’s dated by the Wilson tag (size 46) in the collar with the R (registered trademark) moving from the top of the Wilson “N” to underneath it. Overall shows great seasonal wear with Phillies logo across front, “32” on the sleeve and his name/jersey number identifiers on the reverse. As a bonus, he also signed the wonderful garment in black felt tip ("9").
