Chubby Checker The Twist hand signed in person 45 rpm 1960 Parkway Records 811, Rare!
This Parkway 45 RPM record has been hand signed by Chubby Checker in 1996 but what makes this so special is that this 45 is from 1960 and has the original label notating that this record is a Parkway Records 811. My info tells me that this is from the original printing in 1960, since the label is basic in appearance. A piece of tape has been removed from the record and the original label has been damaged but an original 45 record from over 50 years ago with such a legacy, wow, and it is signed!!!
Very collectable and an awesome piece to be framed!!!
Chubby Checker (October 3, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. He also popularized the dance style Twist, with his 1960 hit cover of Hank Ballard's R&B hit "The Twist". In September 2008, "The Twist" topped Billboard's list of the most popular singles to have appeared in the Hot 100 since its debut in 1958.
"The Twist" is a twelve bar blues song that gave birth to the Twist dance craze. The song was written and originally released in 1959 by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters as a B-side (to "Teardrops on Your Letter") but his version was only a moderate 1960 hit, peaking at 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, and the dance the Twist, was popularized in 1960 when the song was covered by Chubby Checker. His single became a hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 19, 1960 (one week), and then setting a record by being the only single to reach number one in two different chart runs when it resurfaced and topped the chart again on January 13, 1962.
In 1960, Checker's cover of Hank Ballard's "The Twist" became Parkway's first big hit. Although Ballard's version only reached #16 on the R&B chart in 1958, Chubby Checker's version went to #1 in 1960, and again in early 1962.
