1985 Cincinnati Reds - Rare CORKED Pete Rose Game-Used, Signed Mizuno PR4192 Bat (PSA GU 9)
In 1985, Rose was traded back to the Reds and was fizzling his career out at first base. However, he was still was in pursuit of Ty Cobb’s hit record and had 30 black Mizuno bats ordered. They were a little bit lighter (34” and 32oz.) to help his swing and embodied the historic sports essence of 4192 with the model number PR4192.
This gamer is uncracked with excellent use. It shows soiling on the custom tape (w/6 rings and 4-1/4" spiral pattern) and several ball marks and stitch impressions are visible on the right, left and back barrel. Rose signed the barrel boldly in silver paint pen ("9"). Both the knob and barrel end have his number "14" in silver paint pen.
After finding a similar bat on the web that was corked sell for $10,000 this bat was X-Rayed. The interior barrel has the same characteristic space elongation that a cork is typically put in to enhance the bat. PSA Bats confirmed that the bat was corked via a x-ray and graded this dandy a whopping GU 9!!!
