Mid-1980s Philadelphia 76ers - Dr. J - Julius Erving Game-Worn, Signed Converse Shoes (Sneakers Originated From Former Teammate)
Presented are a vintage red and white Converse “All Star” sneakers worn by Dr. J. himself. He put a great amount of wear in these kicks from his days with the Philadelphia 76ers. Red star logos are present on each side and the back heel and above the Converse logo DR J is stamped in for easy brand association. Size is unknown.
These originated from a local ABA professional basketball player – Rich Jones who played with the New York Nets in the 1976-77 Championship season (before the merge to the NBA) with Dr. Julius Erving. Jones met up with Dr. J at the Dunes after the Sixers played the Jazz at the Thomas and Mack Center in an exhibition game in the mid-80s. Back in then, Las Vegas was the alternate home to the Jazz and hosted many of their games. Dr. J gave Jones a pair of his Converse gamers and signed both – one for each of his sons in pen (“7-8” signatures were top coated for preservation). The shoes are now presented here for prominent display in your collection.
