1995 Yancey Thigpen Photomatched Game Worn Steelers Super Bowl XXX Helmet
Yancy Thigpen’s 1995 season was the best of his ten NFL campaigns, earning him his first Pro Bowl berth based on 85 catches for 1307 yards, and 5 TD’s.
This helmet was worn throughout the season by Thigpen, including the playoffs and the 1995 AFC Championship Game vs. the Colts and Super Bowl XXX, in which he caught a TD pass from Neil O'Donnell.
And in the Pro Bowl, Thigpen gave the AFC a 7-0 early lead with an electrifying 93 yard TD reception from the Bengals’ Jeff Blake. After the game, Thigpen gave his Steelers’ game helmet to fellow AFC All-Star receiver Anthony Miller. It's now offered by AMI as a representation of Thigpen’s career year and memorable Super Bowl and Pro Bowl performance.
Complete in every way, the helmet exhibits season-long wear, both inside and out. The Steelers’ mustard center stripe and single logo (right side) are correct in color hues and mil depth. The rear shell projects a well-worn NFL shield sticker, Thigpen’s #82, gold-on-clear warning sticker, and an extra-wide AF2 back bumper. An "82" numeric identifier appears on the front as well. His double-reinforced, open-eyed black mask is affixed with double side clips, A double low hook-up black cup chinstrap, Thigpen’s preference, is present with an aged "82" markered identifier. The interior has standard and well-worn AF-2 padding and a size 7-1/4 sticker. Vintage Steelers helmets are difficult from any era, and this Thigpen ranks at the summit with the best provenance-laden examples ever offered.
