Larry Doby - HOF - AL Pioneer 1947 - Signed Brown AL ball
He was the second black man to play in the majors, and the first in the American League. Signed by the innovative Bill Veeck in 1947, Doby made an impact immediately. A lifetime 283 hitter, Larry Doby was often a league leader in RBI's and Home Runs. Some say he tried too hard and put too much pressure on himself, yet who can argue with his success. Also the second African American to manage a big league team. And, of course, the Hall Of Fame. Obtained from a lifetime baseball man with contacts throughout the game.
