Brett Farve 1996-97 Rare Game-Worn Pro Bowl Greenbay Packers Helmet Signed Inscribed "Brett Favre 4 MVP", Reggie White + Others From HOFer Willie Roaf Collection

Directly from the Iron Man Favre himself, this helmet was given to HOFer Willie Roaf after the 1997 Pro Bowl.  Willie asked Favre to make sure that he brought down one of his helmets for him after the Pro Bowl.  Favre, after winning the Super Bowl, did just that.  He came down to Hawaii with his helmets from the Super Bowl. This was his back-up Super Bowl helmet which he wore during the 1996 Super Bowl year.

Favre played the entire first quarter and part of the second quarter of the Pro Bowl game, and then after the game he handed Roaf, this "trophy" helmet.  Well worn, during the Pro Bowl, and having made its way onto the Tundra on Brett's head, during the 1996 Super Bowl season, this helmet has been through the trenches. We can match this helmet to the Pro Bowl, by the placement of the clips and the screws in the top of the helmet.

Inside of the helmet, affixed is the customary WD-1 warning sticker,  customized bumpers, right ear pad  which is cut as per Favre,  black velcro circles, and "4" written on underneath the right velcro sticker.  The jaw pad is in tact, as are all the clips. There is also a compartment-like area for the signal-calling tools (microphone, battery pack etc.). It is in the central portion and covered by a triangular padding.  Wear is prevalent on the base of the white part of the back of the helmet.  Red staining is apparant on the back bumper from setting down the helmet.  Apparant as well, is dirt, and sweat marks.  There is a scuff mark on the right front side of the helmet and on top.  1997 Pro Bowl Sticker is affixed to the back in proper position as is the Warning sticker.  Screws in the tops, front and sides of helmet are also in the correct positions.

This type of helmet, a 1 side facemask clip, was worn by Favre every game until December.  The playoff vs 49ers he had the 2 clip helmet. 12/22 v Vikings and 12/15 v Lions he has the 2 clip helmet on which is what style he wore in the Super Bowl.  Dec 8 v Broncos he had the single clip helmet.   Every game before that he had the single side clip.  See photos.

Willie upon, receiving this helmet, had a few of his football buddies to sign it.  Of course, Favre gallantly placed "Brett Favre 4 MVP", while Reggie White scripted "92 1 COR 13" on the Packer's yellow paint.  The other Football signees include LeRoy Butler 36, Frank Winters and Keith Jackson.

The 1997 Pro Bowl saw records fall and two exceptional quarterbacking performances. It was the second overtime game in the series’ history and the score finally ended up AFC 26- NFC 23.  To make this helmet even a little more special, Willie Roaf has included a handwritten note and photos of Willie with the Favre helmet, his most prized helmet in his collection: "In 1997 after the Pro Bowl, Brett Favre gave me his helmet.  I had asked him the week during the practice and he said yes.  It was his only Super Bowl Winning season."
