Commodore Oscar Smith Personal Banner/Flag - Vintage Photo - Insignia & Buttons

Commodore Oscar Smith was an officer and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1908 and became a Commodore during World War 2 and in 1944 he became the head of the Guided Missiles Committee which explored every guided missile and drone project currently under development.

From his descendants personal exhaustive collection of artifacts include his personal banner/flag, stripes, buttons and vintage Black and White photograph of this American hero. The banner / flag shows light fraying from usage with the stitching slight discoloration. Imprinted on the flag is "FIRST FLAG FLOWN BY COMMODORE OSCAR SMITH U S NAVY FROM T T F BUILDING- NAVAL AIR STATION - CLINTON OKLAHOMA 'NOVEMBER 18 1943". What a great piece of history from a man who served in silence heading the precursor program to our current drone strikes that have had heavily publicized strikes overseas.
