1936 New York Yankees World Champions Team- Signed OAL (Harridge) Baseball (16 Signatures Incl. Sweet Spot Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio Rookie, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Earle Combs, Bill Dickey, Frank Crosetti etc.)
In 1936, most thought the Yankees would finish third. Heck, they won only one AL pennant since 1928, and were coming off of three second place finishes in a row under Joe McCarthy. Offense was simply no problem for the Yanks with the league MVP Lou Gehrig, catching superstar Bill Dickey and a 21-year-old hot shot rookie from San Fran, Joe DiMaggio leading the clubhouse. Pitching was also consistent for a staff that allowed the league’s fewest runs. The 1936 World Series had the Yankees defeating the New York Giants in six games. This win started the streak and was the first of four consecutive championship titles.
This baseball represents the spark, the catalyst so to speak of the successive Yankee dynasty. It is an Official American League William Haridge baseball (mild aging) and it was signed by 16 members of the 1936 team in black pen ("8") including: Lou Gehrig on the sweet spot , Red Ruffing, Earle Combs, Red Rolfe, Walter (Jumbo) Brown (he was only on the team with rookie Joe DiMaggio for the ’36 season), Johnny Murphy, Frank Crosetti, Pat Malone (Clubhouse), Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Roy Johnson, Joe DiMaggio (rookie), Joe Glenn, Art Fletcher, Bump Hadley and John Broaca. The Joe McCarthy signature was deemed to be the “clubhouse”. A full LOA from JSA will attend for authentication.
