1998 Arthur Ashe ''Sport in Society'' Hall of Fame Award with LOA from Ashe's Wife
Substantial and extremely impressive 1998 ''Sport in Society'' Hall of Fame award presented to the late great tennis champion and Hall of Famer Arthur Ashe by Northeastern University. Established in 1994 to honor outstanding athletes who have contributed to society through their experience and endeavors in sport, past honorees include Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell and Billy Jean King. Ashe was honored on November 10, 1998. Engraving reads: ''Sport in Society Hall of Fame / 1998 Inductee / Arthur Ashe / For defining courage and grace in every aspect of your life. Your legacy is the admiration and work of the millions you inspired...'' Measures 11'' x 12'' and is constructed of beveled plexiglass, with multiple crystal-shaped plexiglass flourishes.
