1934 Ted Williams Single-Signed Hoover High School Game Used Baseball (Oldest Known Autograph of Boston Red Sox HOFer) (PSA/DNA Full LOA)
Presented is the earliest signed baseball of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams. The baseball dates to his high school days and was signed in the mid-1930s. The teenager spent those early years at Hoover High School in San Diego, California.
The Official California League baseball was notated boldly (in unknown hand), "Hoover vs. Cathedral, Southern California Finals, Played at Wrigley Field, LA, June 8, 1934." The baseball shows excellent game wear and expected aging.
The Ted Williams black signature presents on the side panel with some surface wear "6". However, considering the rarity it is arbitrary for any serious collector. There are an additional 12 signatures on the baseball presumably from teammates and coaching staff. Two that were identified were Roy Engle and Wos Caldwell (coach).
A full letter of authentication from PSA/DNA will attend.
