In 1941, Ted Williams had the season of all seasons. At times even Joe DiMaggio who was in the midst of a 56-game hitting streak did not compare. Williams finished the season with an outstanding .406 batting average.
Presented is a half bat signed by the 1941 Boston Red Sox team. This Louisville Slugger bat was cut in half for the purpose of being autographed. It is a Bobby Doerr game model as he was the second baseman. The bat itself shows a taped handle and green rack marks.
There's 26 autographs in black ink which has been shellacked for preservation. The signatures range in quality from light to dark and include: Lefty Grove Frank Pytak, Mike Ryba, Joe Dobson, Dick Newsome, Pete Fox, Tex Hughson, Al Flair, Ted Williams, Nelson Potter, Charles Wagner, Mickey Harris, Joe Cronin, Earl Johnson, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Finney, Stan Spence and others.
