Boston Red Sox (Rare) Capt. Ted Williams Signed Autographed OAL Brown Baseball
In January of 1952, Ted Williams was called from a list of inactive reserves to serve in the Korean War on active duty. He was named a Captain in the Marine Corps. He joined the "Willing Lovers" of VMF-311 at Pohang on Korea's eastern coast in 1953. Williams flew 39 combat missions with his plane being hit by the enemy at least three times. He was formally discharged from active duty in 1953 after a cease-fire in Korea went into effect.
This baseball was signed in gratitude of his service to our country. Williams signed it with his Marine rank "Capt. Ted Williams" across the sweet spot in blue ballpoint ("9-10"). The baseball itself is an OAL (Brown).
Overall, one of the more unique signed baseballs of the legendary baseball player to surface.
